Terms & Conditions

Below is the Terms & Conditions for which a dog can be accepted at Precious Paws.

Before Arrival

Please ensure your dog has been exercised and given the opportunity to toilet before arriving at their grooming appointment. Please also ensure all dogs arrive on a collar and lead.

matted hair policy 

Grooming will not cause serious or undue stress to your dog by de-matting for an extended period of time as specified by the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Some matts can be extremely difficult to remove, and therefore may result in the pet having to be shaved. I, the owner therefore grant permission for hair that is matted to be shaved off if necessary to prevent pain and discomfort.  An additional cost will be incurred for any dogs that require knot or matted coat removal. 

Health and elderly dogs

Please note that the grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at the owner’s risk. It is also possible that during the grooming process underlying skin or health problems may become apparent and / or aggravated. For this Precious Paws cannot be held liable. We will notify you of anything that we may find during the grooming process.

refusal of aggressive or biting dogs

It is critical that all owners must declare at the pre-groom consultation if their dog is prone to aggression, biting and / or is likely to bite during the grooming process. A muzzle may be used; however, Precious Paws reserve the right to refuse or to immediately stop grooming a dog of an aggressive nature at any time before or during the grooming process. Please note that if your dog should bite the groomer then subsequently the owner agrees to pay the full cost of the groom. We do try our best to work with aggressive dogs, however, if the dog continues to behave in an aggressive manner or put’s the groomer or the dog itself at risk, we will refuse to continue working with the dog for safety purposes.

refusal of service - fleas

Do not bring your dog to the salon if you know or suspect it has fleas. Please deal with the infestation at home. If it is identified that your dog has fleas during the groom, you will be contacted, and you will then be asked to remove your dog immediately. You may also be charged for the groom and the additional cost of carrying out a deep-clean and sterilisation of the salon.

accidents

I, the owner agrees that Precious Paws Dog Grooming with not be held liable or responsible for any accident or incident caused by a non-disclosure of my dog’s medical condition or behaviour. It must be clearly understood and agreed that whilst every attention is given to your dog they are accepted only at the owner’s risk. Precious Paws main concern is for the welfare of your dog. In the event of injury or illness a vet may be contacted. Unless it can demonstrate that Precious Paws are liable, all associated vet costs /bills shall be at the owner’s expense. 

payment

Payment will be made on collection of the dog by its owner. During the initial consultation prices will be made based on dog breed, condition of cost, size or type. However, owner’s must be aware that some dogs may require extensive extra work, such as; de-matting or aggressive behaviour.  If this is the case an extra charge will be added. 

cancellation - Non - attendance for appointment 

If you have to cancel for any reason, please give as much notice as possible, preferably at least 24 hours. If you do not show for your appointment, you will be charged 50% of the initial consultation price.

photographs

If asked by Precious Paws I, the owner agree to my dogs’ photograph being taken (e.g. before and after pics) and it being used on Precious Paws website/social media and for any future marketing purposes. If you the owner does not wish pictures of your pet to be used for these purposes, please notify us at the time of your appointment.

complaints

If for any reason you are not happy with any aspect of the grooming process, please notify Precious Paws Dog Grooming by telephone within 24 hours of the groom.

customer consent 

By signing the Terms and Condition form (supplied at the initial consultation) I the owner agree to the terms and conditions as outlined above.

bookings

prices

The grooming cost will depend on the breed and the condition of the coat. Please contact me to discuss your requirements and I am happy to give you an estimated cost, however, it may be that I can actually give you a more accurate cost once I’ve saw the dog and there may be an additional cost if the dog is matted, aggressive or more work is required. 

appointments

All grooming appointments should be booked in advance. The time for a full groom will depend on several factors, such as coat type and condition, temperament and age of dog. Please note: We never rush a groom because we aim to give the dog a pleasant experience, therefore, when you drop your dog off to us, I will contact you when either the dog is nearly finished or the groom is fully completed. Please allow us the time to do our job effectively.
